Provider review
Hims Review: GLP-1 Evidence and Care
Hims now leads with branded GLP-1 options and a separate care membership. The product’s clinical evidence is stronger than a generic wellness claim, but the exact formulation, follow-up and full renewal cost still matter.

Evidence
Has the molecule been tested for what it is sold for?
Each row summarizes human evidence for the molecule and the use being advertised. Results apply to the product, dose, population and outcome studied; they do not establish that this provider’s preparation or program produces the same results. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. Evidence for one use should not be assumed to support another.

For an FDA-approved finished medicine, confirm the manufacturer product, pharmacy, packaging and prescription label. What has changed since
October 2026 public weight-loss page prominently offers branded products. No current close-out determination is made here.
Assessment
What holds up, and what does not
- Current public offer names approved products rather than leaving the medicine unspecified.
- Membership and medication are explicitly separate charges.
- Public materials describe ongoing care access.
- Medication starting offers are not the total recurring bill.
- Approval of a drug does not validate every microdosing or platform-level outcome claim.
- State availability and the assigned pharmacy require individual confirmation.
Verdict
The bottom line
Before committing, identify the exact medicine, the clinician responsible for follow-up, the dispensing pharmacy and the total charge. Match the evidence to that product and your treatment goal.

The current Hims offer is about named medicines
Hims’ October 2026 weight-loss page prominently offers branded Wegovy and Zepbound options. That matters when reading older reviews centered on compounded semaglutide. A current decision should start with the exact prescription being offered today, rather than assuming that an old formulation or price still describes the service. The public page says membership is required and paid separately from medication. 1
Our assessment covers public materials. We did not become a patient, test the messaging service or measure treatment outcomes. A large brand can make a treatment easier to find; it cannot remove the need for an individual medical evaluation.
Full analysis — 4 more sectionsWhat the clinical evidence can support · Membership changes the meaning of the advertised price · The FDA letter is relevant history, not the whole current review · Questions that improve the consultation
What the clinical evidence can support
Wegovy injection has randomized trial evidence for weight management in defined populations. The original FDA clinical-study section describes a 68-week study of 1,961 adults, excluding people with type 2 diabetes in that study. That is evidence about a specific product and regimen, not about every service sold under a weight-loss membership. 2
The same distinction applies when a page displays pills, pens and a microdosing plan together. A result for one formulation and schedule should not silently migrate to another. Ask which trial supports the treatment actually proposed, whether its participants resemble your clinical situation and whether the outcome being discussed was measured directly. A headline in pounds does not answer those questions.
The provider’s role is also different from the manufacturer’s trial program. Hims may arrange assessment and follow-up, but a drug’s approval does not certify that one telehealth platform produces better outcomes than its competitors. To compare care, ask how a concern reaches a clinician, how treatment changes are handled and what happens if the initial option is unsuitable.
Membership changes the meaning of the advertised price
The reviewed page states a $39 first-month membership that renews at $149 per month, with medication charged separately. It advertises Wegovy pill medication from $149 per month and Wegovy pen from $199; these are starting offers, not universal totals. Membership does not guarantee a prescription. 1
For illustration, a $149 medication charge plus a $149 renewal membership would total $298 for that month. That arithmetic is conditional on the quoted medicine remaining at that price and is not a current individualized quote. Confirm the actual strength, term, billing schedule and all services before deciding whether the program fits your budget.
Paying for ongoing care can be reasonable if that care meets a need. The useful question is what you will use: access to clinical advice, follow-up assessment, nutrition guidance or help changing treatment. A bundled service should still make clear which responsibilities belong to the prescribing clinician and which belong to customer support.
The FDA letter is relevant history, not the whole current review
FDA issued a September 9, 2025 warning letter to Hims & Hers Health, Inc. doing business as Hims, concerning compounded semaglutide marketing. It objected to language implying equivalence with approved products. The cited letter concerns claims and labeling; it does not establish that every current Hims product has a quality defect. We do not infer a current close-out status from simply locating the historical letter. 3
That history supplies a practical test: keep the approved product, any compounded preparation and the care platform separate. FDA explains that compounded drugs do not undergo its premarket review for safety, effectiveness and quality. An old compounded-product claim should not be used to describe a current branded prescription, and a branded product’s results should not be used to validate an unspecified compounded alternative. 4
Questions that improve the consultation
Ask the clinician to name the proposed product and explain why it fits your medical history. Discuss the outcome that will count as a useful response, how tolerability will be assessed and how follow-up will work if you cannot continue. If the plan differs from the studied regimen, ask what evidence supports that difference and what uncertainty remains.
Confirm state availability for that treatment; the public Hims page explicitly says service is not available in all states. Obtain the pharmacy’s identity when a prescription is arranged. Neither a general nationwide website nor the availability of one treatment proves access to every listed option. 1
Hims is most useful to compare as a care membership attached to a specific medicine. It is less informative to compare brand reputation, headline pounds or an entry price alone. Our semaglutide versus tirzepatide evidence comparison explains the drug evidence, while the consultation should establish which product and follow-up plan you would actually receive.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is Hims’ medicine price the whole bill?
No. The reviewed offer requires a separately billed membership. The membership renews at $149 per month after its $39 first month; medication is additional.
Does a Hims membership guarantee a prescription?
No. Its public terms explicitly say it does not. A clinician must determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Do older compounded reviews describe every current Hims option?
No. The current page lists branded products. Confirm the exact formulation before applying an older review or trial result.

Read our methodology
Claims read first-party
Every quoted claim was read off Hims's own pages, first-hand, on the date stamped against it — never from a summary, an aggregator, or an earlier version of this review.
Trials read from the registry
Phase, status and enrollment come from ClinicalTrials.gov; identifiers and journals from PubMed's own records. Nothing here is cited from memory.
Absence claims bounded
Where we report that no trial exists, the page says what was searched, where, and when — never an unbounded claim that nobody has tested something.
Letters matched on full name
FDA letters are matched on the complete company name. A substring match would attach one firm's regulatory history to another with a similar name.
