Bremelanotide is one of the few compounds on this site with a genuine phase 3 program and an FDA-approved product, Vyleesi, behind it. It is approved for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women. Every company on this board sells the compounded version to men, which is where the distance between the evidence and the claim opens up.

What decides the order

Companies we have a paid relationship with are listed first, and we say so here rather than marking individual rows. What this board does not measure

Whether it works

A company can describe a weakly-evidenced product accurately and rank well here. What the evidence says about each molecule is on its own graded compound page, and the two questions are deliberately kept apart.

Clinical care

We read public pages. We have not been a patient of any of these companies, have not assessed a consultation, and publish no quality score of any kind.

Price

Prices appear on a review as a note where a company publishes one, and they are not part of this ranking. A cheaper company is not lower here and a dearer one is not higher.

Product quality

Only 1 of the companies reviewed here publish a certificate of analysis a customer can read, and a certificate is not on this board's ranking axis. Nothing here tells you what is in a vial.

Frequently asked questions

There are phase 3 trials, so why do claims still get graded as overstating?

Because a trial is evidence for what it tested. The bremelanotide program tested premenopausal women with a specific diagnosis, and it measured desire, not performance. A page selling PT-141 to men for erectile function is making a claim that program did not address, however solid the program is. Strong evidence in the wrong population is not evidence for the claim in front of you.

Is the compounded version the same as Vyleesi?

Same molecule, different product. Vyleesi is an approved autoinjector with a reviewed label; a compounded PT-141 vial is prepared by a pharmacy against a prescription and is not FDA-approved. None of the companies on this board dispenses the approved product.
